Seattle Central's five quarter Cabinetmaking and Fine Woodworking Program prepares students for employment in cabinetmaking, furniture construction and other related woodworking occupations. Technical instruction on all projects emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and quality craftmanship. Students learn project layout, machining and milling, methods of construction, preparation for finish and finishing techniques. Student projects are structured to provide actual hands on experience in the shop such as would be encountered in typical work experiences.
Career opportunities for successful students range from residential and commercial built-in cabinetry to custom home and office furniture, or one of many specialized areas of finer woodworking.
"The instructors are fabulous! Within two years I went from knowing nothing to my first job, and now to running my own business!" Jennifer Hammill, graduate.
