Do You Have a Question?
The Library provides reference assistance in the form of library instruction or brief answers for
currently enrolled students, SSCC faculty, SSCC staff and community borrowers. We do not conduct research for you, but are happy to assist you in locating the information you need. Contact a Librarian

No one likes going to the Library and finding that the resources they need are checked out, out of date or not available at that location. This can be a very disappointing experience for students and a hectic time for the librarian. In addition, it can be frustrating for instructors when students are unable to find suitable research materials.
Alerting librarians to upcoming assignments helps to ensure that students have access to the research materials they need, when they need them. Librarians can help to make sure that certain resources are available for students. They can also help an instructor to prepare a bibliography of available items or a webliography (a list of web sites on a certain subject).
Another way of making sure that resources are available when your students need them is to place them on reserve. Materials on reserve are held behind the front desk, and checked out to students for a limited loan period or for in-library use. Materials placed on reserve can either be South Seattle Community College Library materials or an instructor’s own personal materials. Videos can also be placed on reserve in the Media Services department.
For more information on how to place print materials on reserve, contact Florence Fields Love at the circulation desk, (206) 764-5395. For information on how to place Media Services material on reserve, contact Diane King in Media Services (206) 764-5384.
Are you teaching a distance learning class this quarter? Why not let the Library help! Many of the Library's resources are readily available to distance learners. A librarian can help you to identify available resources for your class. We can also assist you in developing a webliography, a list of subject specific web sites geared specifically for your students. For more information contact your librarian.
Did you know that many of the Library's online resources can now be accessed from your home or office via the Internet. Currently Voyager Online Catalog, ProQuest Direct, ERIC, WOIS and Applied Science and Technology can all be accessed via the Internet.
When accessing a database from home, you may require a password. The password for off campus access is your last name and student ID number. If you don't know your ID number, you can find that information at the Registration office. |
