- Online, self-paced series of 1-credit courses. Students can sign up for one or more, and learn stress-free, time-saving strategies to find, evaluate, and use needed information. Prereq: Placement in ENG101.

- Explores the need for defining a research task and identifying research options. Covers the process to get started with a research topic and gain solid understanding of the options available for research.
- INFO 103: Finding and Using Books & Media [syllabus]
- Introduces the purpose, structure, and uses of books, ebooks, and dvds as sources of in-depth or historical information on a subject. Covers using local and regional catalogs to find books and strategies for evaluating them.

- Explores periodical databases in the research process. Covers basic database structure and the variety of databases available. Focuses on reseach strategy and database features to retrieve and evaluate articles on a topic.

LIB180: Research for the 21st Century (5 credits)
Builds skills and identifies personal learning styles and strengths to facilitate learning and research for college students. Through a quarter-long research project, students will examine the strategies for locating, evaluating and applying information resources in the research process. Prereq: Placement in ENG101.
SSC187: Information, Knowledge and Power (5 credits)
Explores political, economic, and cultural aspects of information related to the ongoing struggle for social justice. Critically evaluates information sources for incorporation into personal knowledge base.
